Role Overview/Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Production Geologist, the Field Geology Technician will help assist in the day-to-day drill-related activities and liaise with different departments, such as Mining Operations, Engineering, Environment, Surface and Mechanical, etc. They will be involved in coordinating drill logistics, both physical and schedule, as well as performing inspections (surface and underground), and accounting for daily activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to Geology, Environmental, and Engineering departments to specific drilling components of their departmental needs and scopes.
  • Inspect drills, drill sites and laydown sites.
  • Planning, tracking, and managing costs associated with drilling and support contractors.
  • Collaborate with Mine Operations and support contractors to build on drilling efficiencies.
  • Review and analyze performance metrics and use analysis to determine areas for improvement.
  • Manage the inventory and upkeep of company-owned survey equipment.
  • Coordinate internally and with external vendors to ensure the availability of required equipment and materials.
  • Ensure all downhole surveys are performed at appropriate intervals and recorded daily.
  • Ensure best drilling practices are implemented on site.
  • Ensure all contractors are compliant with Health and Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including progress, costs, equipment maintenance, and safety incidents.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to resolve technical issues, optimize drilling plans, and drive operational excellence.
